Started doing some “Blog Spring Cleaning” today. I’ve had this blog since 2005, and to be honest, a lot of the posts were pretty old and outdated, altho a lot of them are still relevant today and evergreen topics. However, it is now 2012, and I think I can safely eliminate a lot of posts especially those over 5 years old. They’re pretty much dead and readership is poor on most of the old ones. Plus, they’re using up a lot of server and database space which can be better utilized.
It’s amazing how quickly a blog can become bloated with scripts, posts and data, etc., gathering dust and slowing down blog performance, making it work harder than it has to. Even with all the optimizing, cache plugins, and clouds, it can bog down the best of apps, servers and networks. And all those dust bunnies! They were hopping around everywhere… ![]()
So, if you find that posts you may have bookmarked or whatever, have disappeared, I apologize, but it had to be done. You may also come across links that no longer work as I continue my cleaning. But the time has come to streamline and optimize this blog for my readers and to make room for future posts much more relevant to the ever-changing internet marketing arena.
And for those of you that have blogs also, have you taken a look at your server and database lately? May want to do some spring cleaning yourself, get rid of anything not being used… and watch out for those dust bunnies! =}
