Many moms and dads run their own businesses. It allows them to spend more time with their families and to save some security for the future. However, advertising budgets can eat into profits so finding ways to effectively advertise for the least amount of money is a solid business practice.
Your child can be more helpful than you know in helping to grow your business. Schools are always holding fundraisers to make money. Kids sell cookie dough, candy bars, t-shirts, and other items to raise money for trips and sports teams. Get involved and help your business at the same time.
Even elementary schools make yearbooks. It is a way to capture memories of your child at a young age that you can treasure for years. Students sell advertising in the yearbook as a way to pay for the publication of the books. This year, take out a full page ad. Your child will thank you and it is a way to get your business name into as many homes in the district as possible.
Use the ad effectively. It doesn’t have to be flashy, but it does have to say something that will attract attention. Include pictures of your products and a list of just a few of the items that you sell. If it is a service, highlight what you provide and a range of fees.
The next biggest draw will be the name of your business and your tag line. Include a picture so that they will recognize you on sight, and a telephone number. Since you are advertising locally, a telephone number will bring in business from those who may not have a computer.
When the school is looking for boosters to contribute money to an event like a concert or a festival, donate money in the name of your business. The business name should also include the website address so people can visit the site. These donations are also tax-deductible.
Does your child get active in school activities? The school may be raising money to put on a production of a play or to buy the costumes. Get your name in the program or announced at the event by donating money for the production. Make sure the donation is listed under your business name.
Anywhere that you can advertise is good for business. Something else that will go a long way is to get involved in your child’s school. Staying visible to teachers, administration, and other parents lets them associate a face with the business that is being promoted. After all, it is about helping your child to succeed and using your business to be able to make it possible.
Are you ready to go on that next field trip or sign up to volunteer in the classroom? While you are working, find out if there are opportunities where your business and the school can benefit.
